SSA Shipping course

Woooo! I’ve finally completed my 4 days SSA shipping course! First day of lecture and I was already filled with boredom not because the lecturer was not interesting enough to keep me awake, but because I have completely no interest in shipping I guess. Moreover, browsing through the handouts, shit! Isn’t the course more or less about what I’ve learnt during my poly days; the module on International Trade, one of the modules that I detested?

All the shipping incoterms like FOB, CIF, and CFT etc ranged a bell, but even though I’ve been through the module with my usual “style” of forgetting everything about the module after completing the exam paper, I totally have no idea about the definition behind the terms when I study this module all over again. =x

It’s only one year since I last stepped into a lecture room and the atmosphere felt so much like a stranger to me. Nevertheless, I still managed to survive through these 4 days “fishing” throughout the lessons and finished my test today! It wasn’t a well prepared kind of test for me coz of my lethargic attitude to revise. Haha! Anyway, just hope that I will pass this course and won’t become the first in PIL’s history to fail this. =x

Back to work tomorrow! I miss the cheap food at Tanjong Pagar (well, cheaper than City Hall’s food)!

STOP CHINA'S BRUTAL DOG CULLS!!

Came across an article on MyPaper and I am sadden to see this one page article on it. I’ve received newsletters from The Animals Asia Foundation about the recent increase in the gruesome abuse of stray dogs in China and its now on the local papers, with more serious cases reported.

[Please click on the links for reports and updates about dog culls from AAF]
http://www.animalsasia.org/index.php?UID=N03CH2OR1CS
http://www.animalsasia.org/blog/index.php?entry=entry090609-022349

Approximately 34,000 dogs were abused and killed in only 1 month. And the ways they abuse the poor dogs are damn inhuman, targeting the animal with sticks, swinging and throwing the animal on the road until they finally drop dead. They even buried the animals alive.

All these done just because thousands of people in China were bitten and some even died by dogs with rabies. Even those household dogs that were vaccine aren’t spared. They were killed in front of the owners in the same or even more dreadful manner.

The merciless and self-centered China people were even praised in the country, winning applauds from their citizens.

Why didn’t they kill their own citizens when bird flu cases etc were spread dangerously in their country then?

"Dogs man's best friend"? Definitely does NOT apply in China.

A day at JB

I woke up today feeling crankier than usual. Think it’s because of the little amount of sleep I had last night. Was out very early on a Sunday morning, had breakfast and headed for JB!

Custom officer with a friendly smile

Was telling Yannie and Alice how amazing it is that 2 country separated by a causeway only is so far apart! The traffic’s bad, not because of the jams and everything but because the drivers are so reckless and simply have no eyes for any cars around them! Many of the roads we drove on don’t have any forward/backward directions, and the motorists can drive at speedy speeds at a very near distant beside cars, like they are sitting right beside you!

The environment is bad too. No healthy looking trees around, big glowing and tearing banners are everywhere, and Lion and me had this illusion that a lion or whatever forest animal might dashed out at you from nowhere out of the sudden. Another thing, they have no toilet papers in the washrooms! They uses water hose instead of toilet papers and that made the whole cubicle flooded with water and you know, urine or maybe, shit. =.=

I think there are only 2 things that will make me visit JB again, the food and shopping. It’s damn cheap! Same price or lower as what’s sold in Singapore, only its in Ringgit. I was very amazed at the amount I spent on my meals there! For a feast of medium sized curry fish head, 8 BBQ chicken wings, 20 satays and cups of drinks; each person only paid about SGD5!!!

Cheap lunch at Black Canyon Coffee Thai Restaurant, Jusco Mall

We came across a pets shop and they sell exotic pets that you can never find in Singapore’s pets shops! Flying hamsters and squirrels in cage! Cant believe Lion actually mentioned that he feel like keeping an iguana as pet and he actually went to ask the salesperson whether they sell iguanas. =.=

The little cute exotic pets! See my small little tiny turtle?!

But, well anyway, will still be popping into Malaysia whenever I got the chance bah? For the food~ Hohoho..

Aint the turtle pao in the steamer cute? Im never gonna eat it man~

Malaysia's famous, cheap and manually washed Snow Car Wash.

In another 9 hours…

I’ll be going in Johor Bahru (JB)! Fine~ this is not exciting at all to maybe the majority of Singaporeans since Malaysia is just one bridge across, a few hours drive in. But I am damn excited okay! It’s my first trip to JB and I am glad that my dear Ah Pang has made her promise in bringing me this mountain turtle in for some insights.

I guessed I am really thick-skinned to tag along with Ah Pang and her boyfriend when Ah Chang backed out. I’ll be a super bright light bulb! But her boyfriend is really nice and didn’t mind being the chauffer and walking “trolley” for the one day trip. Luckily Lion was spontaneous and cool enough to “accompany” me to the trip.

Actually, I’m feeling kinda guilty calling Lion at the very last minute; moreover, it wasn’t even a planned invitation. I merely mentioned to him about my trip and casually asked whether he wants to join us. It was a mere remark on one of our sms conversations.

So Ah Pang! We have another “trolley”!! =D

More and more!

I need to come up with a new exercise schedule!

Exercising (jogging/swimming) twice a week is not enough!

84km like Lion? Erm.. 6km first.

*winks

Thanks & Regards,
