Tortise? TortOise?

Like in my previous post, i sudden got the urge to blog. Now as i was about to shut down my notebook, i suddenly recalled something funny today.

Ive once again clarified my email (msn usage too) to another person - Mr Benne. Hahaha..

Many peeps have been asking me "hey.. u have a spelling error in ur email?" Hoho.. Nope.. ur eyes are clear and perfectly fine. I had purposely taken out the 'O' in 'tortOise'. Okay.. ignoring the fact that I've chose this reptile as my email add coz I'm a super tortoises/turtle lover (I love their attitude in life - perseverance.. slow but steady), I actually don't get how different the pronunciation of this word 'tortoise' can be when the 'o' is taken out.

TortOise...
Tortise...

Does it sound any difference?

U don't go around emphasising on the 'O' in 'tortoise' too.
So why waste the energy typing or writing that extra 'O' in the word?
