Graduation 2012

Cheerios to all the ushers, marshalls, sparcs and bouncers who made the annual Graduation ceremony possible! Without the wonderful cooperation, the ceremony wouldn't end with praises from the Director of Academic Studies.

This year's Graduation is definitely more experiencing and exciting being one of the ushers-in-charge. I was assigned to take care of the medallists, prize winners, medallists' guests and of course the other graduants' guests. We've encountered angry and nasty guests, attitude and uncooperative ones and of course, nice and pleasant ones.

It was fun talking over the walkie-talkie and laughing alone hearing the funny comments and conversation from the other ushers-in-charge. One instance was the speech by the guest of honour, where the guest speaker actually prepared 8 pages long of speech and slides! It was so long and we were so worried that the late-guests might be impatient waiting outside the hall! However, we cracked a few jokes over our walkie-talkie that "we need lecture notes~" in the hall in future.

The most memorable session was PACE's session. Only a handful of students since most of the graduands withdrew from the ceremony as they are mostly working adults, we had a hard time filling up the hall with guests. And because of that, we broke the rule of "no children under age 7 allowed into the Convention Hall", and invited some from the auditorium to the hall.

Wrong decision made indeed. Serves us right for breaking the rule. The kids were running about in the hall even during the guest speaker is speaking and this was so embarrassing. Pregnant graduands were seen and one unforgettable incident is that one of the graduands actually forgotten to collect her rope and had to "kapok" the mannequin's! ROFL!!

Tired but fun, this is indeed the most memorable events I participated in SP so far.
